The noodles at “Kasaoka Ramen TAKETONBO” are loved in Okayama Prefecture and have an excellent slurping sensation.

In this post, I will introduce a special bowl of ramen from Kasaoka Ramen TAKETONBO in Tsukiji.

First of all, do you know about “Kasaoka Ramen”?

It is a local ramen from Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture, and is characterized by the fact that it is topped with chicken meat called “kashiwa char siu” instead of the usual pork char siu.

Let me introduce it to you right away!

Where is it?

How to order

Once inside the store, first choose your menu item from the ticket machine.

This time I ordered “Soy Sauce Ramen with Seasoned Egg (1,000 yen)”.

Hair ties, paper aprons, and hand wipes are also provided. If you ask, they will be brought to you when you are shown to your seat.

The hand wipes with messages on them are great…!

They also serve Okayama’s local craft beer “Doppo,” so I held back the urge to drink it as part of the set and waited…and then, the bowl of rice arrived.

My review

Authentic Kasaoka ramen you can enjoy in Tokyo: “Soy sauce ramen with seasoned egg”.

The visuals are sure to say, “This is Kasaoka ramen.”

The bowl is topped with two types of pork, green onions, bamboo shoots, and egg.

Generally speaking, when people think of “chicken,” they tend to think of “young chicken,” but Kasaoka ramen primarily uses “adult chicken.”

The soy sauce soup made from parent chickens and seafood has a deep, rich flavor that only mature parent chickens can provide, and the taste permeates the soup.

The noodles, which were specially ordered after much trial and error to be perfectly matched with the special soup, are neither too thin nor too thick, and are of an exquisite medium thickness that makes them easy to slurp. They go down smoothly and are easy to eat.

There are two types of char siu by default, and the boiled chicken, made from “parent chicken” simmered in soy sauce, a must-try, is unique to Kasaoka ramen. The unique crunchy texture is addictive…!

The other type of char siu is made from moist chicken breast meat from forest chicken grown in Okayama Prefecture, cooked at low temperature.

It is very tender, and you can enjoy the contrast in texture with the parent chicken char siu.

If you have room in your stomach, we recommend ordering the “Gyoza Set (3 pieces) (480 yen).”

The gyoza dumplings, which overflow with juice the moment you bite into them, are served together with the ramen, so you can enjoy them with your favorite sauce, or you can dip them in the soup. There is also a surprise garnish of pickled radish on the rice!

Conclusion

One bowl of ramen will make you feel like you’re traveling to Okayama!

“Kasaoka Ramen” is a local ramen from Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture that can actually be found in Tokyo, and is one of the few.

Whether it’s your first time or you’re feeling nostalgic, why not take this opportunity to try it?
